AC Coupled vs. DC Coupled Solar Storage: What You Need to Know

AC-coupled and DC-coupled battery systems define how batteries connect to energy sources for charging. These sources may include renewable systems like solar panels (DC) or grid power (AC). A DC-coupled system directly charges the battery using DC energy from sources like solar panels. In contrast, an AC-coupled system relies on an AC energy source—such as the grid or a wind turbine—which must be converted to DC before charging the battery.
